Congratulations to Anel van Tonder from Primêre Skool Worcester Primary School! Anel’s dedication to integrating technology has transformed her students' educational experience.

Three years ago, she recognised the need for relevant technology in her classroom. Despite challenges from damaged projectors due to loadshedding, Anel proactively upgraded her teaching tools by replacing them with monitors and laptops. This shift allowed for more interactive engagement with students.

Anel implemented several innovative teaching methods, including:

• Project-Based Learning: Encouraging critical thinking through real-world projects.
• Gamification: Using fun tools like "Math Millionaire" to make learning engaging.
• Flipped Classrooms: Students learn at home and participate in hands-on activities in class.

The integration of technology has transformed learning at Worcester Primary School. Anel’s students now experience:

• Personalised Learning: Tailored digital tools that cater to various learning styles.
• Immediate Feedback: Real-time assessments that deepen understanding.
• Multimedia Resources: Engaging videos and simulations that bring lessons to life.

Anel has also integrated Coding and Robotics into the curriculum for Grades 4-7, creating a Junior Robotics Center for younger students. This hands-on approach nurtures essential 21st-century skills like collaboration and creativity.

While public schools face challenges like loadshedding, Anel remains committed to quality education. She collaborates with colleagues to implement coding lessons, using tools like Micro, Scratch, and Resolute’s platform to empower students.

One standout lesson involves students learning coding concepts through videos and then applying that knowledge with robots. Pair programming has boosted engagement, allowing students to support one another. Even those who struggle in traditional subjects thrive in Anel’s classes, gaining confidence and enjoyment in learning.
