We find ourselves in the midst of an “AI-Robotics-4IR-CAPS” craze. I constantly ask myself if this is just a phase schools are going through.
I guess only time will tell. Actually no, why wait on time?
It is so evident how rapidly we as a human race have evolved over the past 100 years – our ability to co-exist and learn has been a significant factor in our growth. Technology has become an integral part of every aspect of our lives and breakthroughs in material sciences and biology are fundamentally altering the way in which we live. The success of these technological advancements leverage the power of digitisation and information technology.
The implementation of Robotics and Coding should not be seen as a force over which we have no control. Instead of having a binary mindset of “accepting it and living with it” and “rejecting it and falling behind”, why not see it as an invitation to reflect who we are and the role we can play in shaping this revolution?
The task does not solely lie with educators. It is a multi stakeholder responsibility consisting of principles, parents, businessmen, entrepreneurs etc. to ensure that we are preparing our students to play a decisive role in society.
We at Resolute see ourselves as a critical stakeholder in helping schools achieve this. Apart from providing schools with progressive curriculums, accredited training programmes and robust robotics kits, our role is to challenge the traditional and linear thinking of decision makers. How can we be disruptive (not too disruptive) and innovate while strategically partnering with schools in shaping the future of their students? That’s the journey we have embarked on.
We are currently in our third year of implementing our programmes in schools. We started small by running a few clubs at local schools near us and now we are actively involved in over 120 schools. We understand that each school is different, and creating a “one size fits all” solution does not exist, which is why we strive to create a pedagogically sound solution that can be molded by schools to fit their vision.
I’m excited to see what the future holds for all of us.
