Resolute Education proudly hosted the 3rd Annual Roboticon, our largest and most impactful event yet at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria! With 890 attendees, including 315 students from 42 schools, we showcased the incredible potential of coding and robotics to inspire the next generation of innovators. This event was not just a competition; it was a hands-on, outcome-driven experience that highlighted real-world skills and practical problem-solving.
We were excited to feature eight prominent industry related exhibitors, including our main sponsor, Oxford University Press, whose support was instrumental in creating an accessible and engaging environment. Other contributors like Deans Stationery, Ulink, Totem Bags, D6, Handsontech, Evetech, Office national and ABB sponsored amazing prizes helped foster a sense of community and excitement, making the day unforgettable. Activities such as face painting and a photo booth added to the interactive atmosphere, ensuring everyone had a great time.
Roboticon included a variety of challenges designed to stimulate creativity and teamwork, all while being aligned and flexible to meet diverse learning needs:
Novice Emergency Responders Challenge: This challenge allowed young innovators to design, build, and program robots to “save the day” in our City of the Future.
Apprentice Disaster Response Challenge: Learners were tasked with rescuing a robot in a quake-hit environment, emphasising collaboration and quick thinking.
Apprentice Innovators Challenge: This initiative pushed participants to develop robotic solutions for managing natural disasters, encouraging practical applications of technology.
Advanced Innovators Challenge: More experienced students solved complex issues, demonstrating sophisticated solutions and a deeper understanding of robotics.
