We were excited to participate in the 6th Annual Soofia Science Festival, hosted by Soofia International School in Butha-Buthe, Lesotho. This event brings together schools to compete in a wide range of activities, including Science Projects, Presentations, Quizzes, Educational and Art Exhibitions, and a dynamic Business Expo, establishing an atmosphere of friendly competition.
Soofia International School, established in 1990, offers the prestigious Cambridge International curriculum for primary and secondary students. Principal Vijayakumar Bhaskaran described their goal as giving their students a platform for social and cultural understanding and enabling them to develop an international perspective so that they would grow up to be international leaders.
Six Soofia educators attended a four-day professional development workshop, hosted by Resolute, designed to equip them with the skills necessary to include robotics and coding into the curriculum of grades 1 through 9.
Principal Vijayakumar Bhaskaran, and Jayant Vijayakumar, Soofia's Chief Academic Advisor warmly welcomed us upon arrival at the school. We witnessed the inauguration ceremony led by the Research Officer Mr. Joshua Takalimane from the Lesotho Ministry of Communication, Science, and Technology, which was broadcast on national television!
Seeing the students' genuine happiness as they explored the Innovation Lab was amazing. The lab, equipped with cutting-edge technology like computers, robots, and a 3D printer, allows students to let their imaginations run free and develop critical 21st-century skills like robotics and coding.
We're so excited to see where Soofia takes this program and the incredible things these students will achieve!
The positive feedback from Soofia and the students' enthusiasm showed this initiative's importance. We are proud to be a part of Soofia's journey in fostering a generation of future leaders equipped with the tools to shape a brighter tomorrow.
